a place for every thing and everything in its place

Confession time. I’m one of those guys that compulsively over-organizes everything.

If you peek inside my closet you’ll see my casual t-shirts don’t hang out with my work t-shirts who in turn wouldn’t be caught dead seen with my button-up shirts.

Yip. My motto is definitely a place for every thing and everything in its place.

But apart from feeling deeply satisfied looking at whatever I’ve tidied, arranged or sorted, I’ve noticed there are one or two non-compulsive, real-world benefits...

For instance: I can find things quickly and reliably. On a lazy Saturday this doesn’t matter much but what about a stressful day looking for your spare car key?

Easy... Bedside table, top drawer, boom!

My personal Google Drive is a thing of beauty that would make you think I need to get a life. So yeah I probably go too far. But I would rather be over-organized than under-organized.

As a leader of technology teams I’ve had to be careful not to overburden people with my own quirky compulsions. But the one area I do feel strongly about is documentation.
