Be more catty - Go to the right place and wait there
/
Everyone knows cats have nine lives and always land on their feet. But we don’t talk enough about how smart and patient they are.
Take our two cats. Buttons and Kitty were waiting for me when I walked into the kitchen at 5.20am this morning. It was still as dark as the night.
I turned on the light switch to start making my coffee. They were sitting by their empty food bowl. Looking strangely at me. That’s when the lights came on: They were hungry and I was their meal ticket.
I told you cats are smart and patient. Buttons and Kitty know I’m an early bird that needs coffee as much as they need food. Perhaps more! So they did what any self respecting domestic predators would. They lay in wait.
I was sipping my coffee, waiting for the sun to start peaking over the horizon. Then it dawned on me. My cats were a perfect example of what Ben Tossell was talking about on Twitter yesterday:
“It’s hard to be at the right place at the right time, so perhaps the best alternative is to go to the right place and wait there.”
This post isn’t really about cats, coffee or bad puns. It’s about you and me. My cats weren’t lucky, they were prepared. This all makes think: What can I do today that will position me to grab the opportunities that inevitably come my way?
