A few things have happened at work over the past week or so that reminded me for the millionth time just how important the way we treat people is.
A few things have happened at work over the past week or so that reminded me for the millionth time just how important the way we treat people is.
The way you word that email to “all staff” or even your team. Whether you greet your colleagues. Your attitude when being asked to do something that’s unrealistic or outside your scope of responsibilities. Whether you say things like I’m sorry, well done, please and thank you.
Just a few examples but these really do matter and like all things they compound and add up over time.
The famous book “How To Win Friends And Influence People” is not perfect, and indeed modern scholars have been quite critical of some of its insincere and manipulative elements. But overall it’s a great book and I’m incredibly grateful for finding a dusty old second hand copy in my late grandmother’s house when I was just 20 years old.
It gave me a new way of looking at people and life. I would say that out of hundreds of books, it’s the one that’s shaped my career the most.
