Just Do IT

Then I was contacted by a company who wanted me to interview for a CIO position. It looks like I’m likely not to get it.

These experiences remind me of some ingredients to success that we don’t like to talk about.

(1) Just Do It

You’re not going to succeed in your head. At some point you‘re going to have to do something about your ambition.

And it will look like work. Not talking. Not thinking. Work.

“It takes many hours to make what you want to make. The hours don’t suddenly appear. You have to steal them from comfort. Whatever you were doing before was comfortable. This is not. This will be really uncomfortable.” - Derek Sivers

(2) Failing Forward

Failure is to success as breathing is to living. We actually learn more from failures anyway and 99% of successful people have failed tons of times.

“Failure is the cost of ambition.” - Shane Parish

What have you DONE lately? When is the last time you attempted something difficult enough that you FAILED?

PS. I’m not giving up on mtglinks or my entrepreneurial instincts in general. I’m also not giving up on exciting and interesting career opportunities.

It doesn’t matter how many times you fall. It matters how many times you get up.
